LASER SENSORS LC-120
Features
Maximum performance in compact housing
The LC120 series, developed in the 50x50x18mm compact plastic housing, offers the maximum performance of optic detection functions for industrial automation. Furthermore, versions with visible red laser emission are available with 535cm background suppression and polarized retroreflex reaching more than 20m. These laser sensors are characterized by a very small light spot as well as a low response time that guarantee excellent detection repeatability, even of very small objects or movements.

Industry-Leading Precision and ReliabilityPanasonic Sunx laser sensors deliver superior accuracy and high repeatability for critical measurement and object detection tasks. With a tightly focused 1 mm beam and fine resolution, they enable reliable detection of even the smallest objects, supporting demanding industrial processes and quality control measures. Their robust design ensures consistent performance in challenging environments, aided by IP67 protection and vibration/shock resistance.
Versatile Features and Flexible IntegrationThese compact sensors are suitable for a wide range of applications-including dimensional measurement, position sensing, and fine object detection-thanks to adjustable sensitivity, multiple output types, and a measurement range up to 500 mm (model dependent). They support easy installation via panel or bracket mounting, and pre-wired or connector interface options for fast integration into automation systems.
FAQ's of Panasonic Sunx Laser Sensors:
Q: How are Panasonic Sunx laser sensors installed and connected?
A: Panasonic Sunx laser sensors support both panel and bracket mounting options, making installation straightforward. They are available with either pre-wired cables or connector types, allowing flexibility to suit different industrial wiring setups. The sensors operate on a 12-24V DC input and interface via wired connections (wireless not available).
Q: What are the primary industrial applications for these laser sensors?
A: These sensors are designed for object detection, fine positioning, and dimensional measurement in industrial automation and quality control. Typical uses include detecting small objects on conveyor systems, precisely positioning components, and measuring part dimensions with very high accuracy and repeatability.
Q: When should you choose a sensor with Class 1 versus Class 2 laser designation?
A: The selection between Class 1 and Class 2 models depends on workplace safety standards and specific application requirements. Class 1 lasers offer maximum eye safety and are generally preferred where human exposure is possible, while Class 2 models are suitable when a higher output is needed and safety measures are in place.
Q: Where can these sensors be used given their environmental specifications?
A: With an IP67 rating, robust shock (500 m/s2) and vibration (10-55 Hz) resistance, Panasonic Sunx laser sensors can be used in harsh industrial environments that may expose them to dust, moisture, mechanical shocks, or vibrations. Their operating temperature range is -10C to +55C, suitable for most factory and process automation settings.
Q: What is the process for adjusting the sensitivity and measurement range?
A: These sensors feature adjustable sensitivity, allowing users to fine-tune detection according to target size, surface, and distance within the model-dependent maximum range of up to 500 mm. The adjustment is typically made via the onboard controls or external inputs, as per the model's manual.
Q: How does the sensor benefit industrial automation and quality control?
A: The high repeatability (0.03 mm), accuracy (0.1 mm), and fast response time (1 ms or less) ensure rapid, precise detection and measurement. This translates to improved reliability, process consistency, and quality assurance in production lines, reducing errors and increasing operational efficiency.
